New York Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Adnan Munawar Comments on Workers’ Compensation Fraud
(PRWEB) December 30, 2013 -- The Daily News reported that two veteran officers of the Los Angeles Police Department were arrested yesterday on charges of Workers’ Compensation Fraud (2 LAPD Officers Arrested for Alleged Workers’ Compensation Fraud, December 12, 2013). Investigators allege that the two officers gave false testimony during depositions related to their injury claims and have formally charged them both.
According to The Daily News, Officer Jonathan Hall, a 19-year veteran who has been charged with four felony counts of workers’ compensation fraud, insurance fraud, grand theft, and attempted perjury, according to the police. Authorities also said that Ralph Mendoza, a 13-year veteran has been charged with two felony counts of workers’ compensation fraud and grand theft. Police Chief Charlie Beck has vowed to take “appropriate action” after a full investigation determines what allegations of misconduct turn out to be true.
Adnan Munawar, Partner at Munawar & Andrews-Santillo LLP, released a statement lauding investigators for not making an exception for officers of the law and condemning the alleged behavior of the accused. “The arrests made yesterday should make it clear to everyone that no one is above the law. ”
“Unfortunately, fraudulent claims can also raise the general level of suspicion for all workers’ compensation claims, including ones that seem unquestionably valid. The result is usually an increase in delays and denials for people who are truly injured and need to be compensated. This is just one of many reasons why you should contact a lawyer immediately if you or someone you love is injured on the job. A lawyer will tell you exactly how to proceed and will ensure that your claim is filed correctly and quickly. If your claim is challenged, an attorney will know how to prove that your injury is job-related and you will have the best chances of receiving the maximum compensation possible. But call now—the time you have to file is limited and there are many steps along the way. Consulting with most personal injury lawyers is free and you only ever pay a fee if your claim is successful.”
“If your or a loved one has suffered an injury or worse caused by the performance of a job, contact a New York Workers’ Compensation lawyer to receive information about the workers’ compensation claim process and get your claims started right away.”
