Colleton River Plantation Club, a premier waterfront golf community, is pleased to announce recognition by the PGA of its golf professionals.

Matt Lucchesi was named Player of the Year, and David La Pour was named Teacher Of The Year for the 2013 Carolina PGA Hilton Head Chapter. The Carolina PGA Chapter award is voted on by area PGA Golf Professionals, and recognizes golf professionals for their contributions to local, sectional, and national PGA programs.

Matt Lucchesi is the Director of Golf at Colleton River, a Class A PGA Professional, and a Titleist Performance Institute-certified Level Two Golf Fitness Instructor. Along with receiving the 2013 Hilton Head Chapter PGA Player of the Year, Matt won the 2013 Hilton Head PGA Professionals Championship and the 2010 Hilton Head PGA Match Play Championship. Before Colleton River, Matt held the position of Head Assistant Golf Professional at The Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, Florida, and was honored with numerous awards such as the 2002 South Florida Section Apprentice Champion and the 2004 SFPGA Southeast Chapter "Assistant of the Year." In 2005, he received the same honor by the South Florida Section of the PGA of America. Additionally, he served for three years as President of the Southeast Chapter SFPGA Assistants' Association.

David La Pour is Director of Instruction at Colleton River and has been a PGA Golf Professional for 22 years including eight years with Dave Pelz. He also started the WP Golf Institute in St. Paul Minnesota before joining the Colleton River Golf Academy. In addition to receiving the 2013 Hilton Head Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year, David was named one of the “Best Teachers in South Carolina” by Golf Digest magazine’s November 2013 edition. The article lists the top golf instructors in the country, along with their affiliations and hourly lesson rates. It is the only list of top teachers voted on by the teachers themselves. He was also recognized as one of "America's Top Golf Instructors" in 2002 by CRCA and was named as one of the Top Teaching Professionals in Minnesota 2005-2006 and 2007-2008 by Golf Digest.

“I’m very honored to be named among the top golf instructors in South Carolina, and especially proud that this recognition is a show of support from my fellow golf instructors,” La Pour said.
