This conference was specifically intended for Washington state educators including: superintendents and central office administrators, principals, assistant principals and other building-level administrators; and teachers.
Washington State School Directors Association Conference:
School ALERT System was a vendor and speaker at the 2013 Annual WSSDA Conference held Wednesday, November 20th - Saturday, November 24th in Bellevue WA. The conference website can be viewed here: http://www.wssda.org/Events/AnnualConference.aspx.
Rainier School District Superintendent and ALERT Co-founder Tim Garchow gave a presentation addressing Washington state Senate Bill 5197's safety requirements for public schools. School ALERT safety points were highlighted along with its compliance to SB 5197. SB 5197 requires schools to collaborate an emergency plan with local law enforcement to speed law enforcement response times. The bill encourages schools to upgrade safety equipment and procedures that utilize evolving technology to expedite response times in event of a school emergency or threat. SB 5197 requires that all Washington state public schools submit a progress report by December 1st, 2014.
School ALERT System tended a vendor booth at the conference to pass out information and answer attendee questions regarding ALERT services and features.
School ALERT is a cloud based software application with end user smart phone, tablet and desktop applications that allow teachers to quickly communicate a school emergency and initiate school lockdown procedures. Once a school lockdown is initiated, the school's PA system launches a pre-recorded lockdown announcement. Additional features include initiating door locking mechanisms, staff check-in requests, 2 way communications and live video feed for admin and/or responders.
