Ramon DeSage and Cadeau Express Donate Goods to Homeless High School Students
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- Every year for over three decades, Ramon DeSage, CEO of Cadeau Express, has contributed to various charities and humanitarian projects.
These charities have included the American Red Cross, International Red Cross, Easter Seals, Rescue Mission, Sports Dream Foundation, The Brent Shapiro Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Awareness, Catholic Charities, Temple Charities, and The Order of Malta. Donations have included food, water, academic scholarships, financial assistance, and a wide variety of supplies for orphanages, medical centers, impoverished communities, high schools, third world countries, and more. His contributions have not only helped feed and educate countless individuals but also paved roads, erected power lines, constructed water wells, built schools, and established hospitals.
In 1994, Ramon Desage was awarded the title “Knight of the Cross of Malta”. The Order of Malta is one of the oldest religious organizations dedicated to aiding those in hardship and need. There are only 11,000 Knights and Dames worldwide, chosen by the Official Order of Malta for continuously “expending their energies serving the poor and sick”.
This year, Ramon DeSage and Cadeau Express assisted Awakenings, a non-profit organization that serves homeless students and disadvantaged youth in Clark County, Nevada. Clark County has over 6,000 homeless and at-risk students, and Awakenings provides basic needs for approximately 1500 of these. They work closely with several high schools including Rancho, Cimarron, and Valley.
Specifically, Ramon Desage coordinated his efforts with Angela Urquiaga, Registrar and Homeless Advocate at Rancho High School. Angela works firsthand with children and students who have experienced severe abuse, trauma, incarceration, disenfranchisement, and often live in shelters, cars, group homes, and multi-family homes with highly-cramped quarters. Such conditions force the students to focus on basic survival rather than education.
Ramon Desage donated and delivered a large variety of life-saving goods, including bottled water, sweatshirts, blankets, hats, vitamins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and mouthwash. Angela then disseminated these to her students and the other schools. Ramon Desage made sure to contribute enough so that these supplies reached every one of the 1500 students in need. All these items will not only help the students through the Christmas holidays, but assist in keeping them enrolled in school throughout the academic year. This in turn gives them access to a brighter future and helps build better communities.
Angela Urquiaga and numerous at-risk and homeless students expressed deep thanks to Ramon Desage. This may also serve as the beginning of an ongoing and coordinated charitable effort between Cadeau Express and Awakenings.
