‘Tis the Season to Connect and Collaborate to Aid Toys for Tots
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- ‘Tis the Season to Connect and Collaborate to Aid Toys for Tots
Local companies including Brasfield & Gorrie, CTS, Verizon, Cross Country Wireless, Octane Media, Blue Jireh, and the YMCA partnered with the Toys for Tots program to help them automate their annual gift request and fulfillment process, which made Santa’s list much easier to check this year. This year Toys for Tots Birmingham filled more than 5,700 requests.
“Sign up and fulfillment of the Marine’s Toys for Tots program in Birmingham is managed by the YMCA. In previous years, we filed the information in up to seven large three ring binders. The YMCA kept the applicants’ paper registrations in the three ring binders and managed the process from there,” explains David Hill, YMCA VP of Marketing and Communications. “Thanks to clever collaborating by local companies, this process is now not only more accurate, but also more efficient.”
“Every child deserves a Christmas,” says CTS CEO and President, Larry Lilley. “Our team sought and created a way to leverage technology, making the process easier for the staff and volunteers who fulfill children’s dreams.”
“The Microsoft Surface Tablets allowed them to automate and easily share the information which was previously hand-written and binder stored,” says Jim Purcell, Brasfield & Gorrie Chief Technology Officer.
In the spirit of collaboration, the United Way, Hands on Birmingham, and the YMCA join forces to wrap and distribute the gifts. For more information or to volunteer, visit http://www.handsonbirmingham.org.
