Enthought Canopy Now Supports Python Tools for Visual Studio
Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 10, 2014 -- Enthought is pleased to announce that Enthought Canopy version 1.2 provides streamlined integration between Python Tools for Visual Studio (PTVS) and Enthought Canopy. Organizations developing scientific and analytic computing applications now have a more complete, robust solution, with development tools in PTVS for programmers and analysis tools in Canopy for scientists, engineers and analysts. With the PTVS integration, it is now easier for software groups to develop and deploy Python/C/C++ applications built on Enthought Canopy.
“We’re delighted that Enthought integrated Canopy with PTVS," states Shahrokh Mortazavi, partner product manager with Microsoft (MFST). "Canopy, paired with Visual Studio’s productive development environment with advanced Intellisense, integrated Python/C++ debugging, and profiling tools, makes for a powerful technical computing environment.”
Enthought worked with Microsoft to develop a custom integration between Canopy and Microsoft’s recent release of PTVS 2.0. The integration provides greatly streamlined configuration and setup of Canopy and PTVS . PTVS automatically detects the presence of Canopy and helps configure the environment to point to the correct Python libraries. More details on Canopy version 1.2 and PTVS can be found in the Enthought blog post, "Enthought Canopy v1.2 is Out: PTVS, Mavericks and Qt."
Enthought Canopy is widely used within energy, finance, industrial automation, aerospace and government organizations for scientific and analytic computing with Python. Along with Enthought’s proven Python distribution with numeric Python packages, Canopy includes an advanced text editor, integrated IPython console, graphical package manager and online documentation. The Canopy analysis environment streamlines data analysis, visualization, algorithm design and application development for scientists, engineers and analysts. PTVS provides a professional software development environment ideal for users and teams who need to develop and debug significant applications, especially those with mixed Python/C++/C.
