Luckity.com Donates $5,000 to Cover Bingo Fundraiser Money Stolen from Oak Grove High School Band
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Luckity.com, a division of Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) (NASDAQ: CHDN), donated $5,000 to the Oak Grove High School Marching Band program in San Jose, Calif., during a check presentation ceremony on Thursday. The donation is to help replace the money stolen by an armed robber during the band’s weekly bingo fundraiser last Wednesday night.
Luckity.com, the premier legal and secure online bingo site in the US where players can win real, cash prizes, contacted Oak Grove’s Band Director Chris Moura after hearing about the robbery.
“Bingo has experienced a massive resurgence in popularity in recent years, as evidenced by the fact that San Jose residents support the Oak Grove High School Marching Band’s fundraising efforts playing bingo week after week,” said Eric Hartness, vice president of marketing, Luckity. “As an online bingo site with headquarters nearby, we felt fortunate to be able to help the band by replacing the stolen money. Now the kids don’t have to worry about raising more money and can focus on practicing for their next big event.”
“The funds raised at our weekly bingo nights go toward the purchase of new uniforms and trips throughout the year for our award-winning marching band,” Moura said. “This generous donation to our students is helping to keep these young adults on the right path.”
