The Westwood Montessori School Announces Partnership with the Red Sox Foundation
Westwood,MA (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- Each year during the month of December, the families of The Westwood Montessori School donate to a charity relating to the lives of children. This year the Montessori School contacted the Red Sox Foundation, a leader in supporting New England-based organizations.
The Red Sox Foundation is affiliated with group homes in each New England state, providing financial support for families in need. The Westwood Montessori School, a Montessori preschool for children ages 2.9-6 in Westwood, MA decided to contact the foundation after the administrator, Faye S. Lundberg read about it online. “I was impressed by the good work they do, so we contacted them about our annual charitable giving and they were very enthusiastic about partnering with us. I also know our children are big Red Sox fans, and if they knew the Red Sox were helping children who needed it, they would feel good about it too.” The administrator decided to ask families to donate a gift card in any denomination. This gave families flexibility in what kind of gift card and how much they wanted to give. “We always get close to 100% participation in everything we do. Our families are very generous,” said Mrs. Lundberg.
A handmade quilted advent calendar was hung in the school hallway. As children brought in their gift cards, they were able to tuck them into the pockets which looked like holiday-decorated doors and numbered from 1-24.
“The mission of The Red Sox Foundation aligns perfectly with that of Montessori Schools as a whole. Providing quality early childhood education is our main goal. We are thankful to have this opportunity with such an incredible charity,” said Mrs. Lundberg.
