Urban Adventures reaches out to potential “Home Cooked” hosts in small towns and villages worldwide in expansion of successful program
(PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Urban Adventures, the global day tour company that gives travellers unique local experiences is expanding its ‘home cooked’ tour offerings by recruiting host families in smaller towns and villages around the world. The search has begun for enthusiastic, hospitable, and food-loving locals to host intrepid travellers in their home for a home-cooked meal, lessons in local cooking and mealtime traditions, and an authentic, local experience.
The “Home Cooked” program began in Delhi and Istanbul, where local families welcome travellers, take them shopping in local markets, show them how to prepare a typical local meal, and sit down to eat together. These tours are some of the most popular tours in Urban Adventures’ portfolio, and the company wanted to create more experiences like this, while also giving local hosts and families in less-travelled destinations the opportunity to get involved in the Urban Adventures business.
“You can’t get a more authentic, local experience than dining in someone’s home with them. It’s how we connect with our friends and family, and we can take that beyond people’s home base and provide that experience and feeling for travellers everywhere”, said Urban Adventures’ General Manager, Tony Carne.
Urban Adventures is currently accepting applications from potential hosts, providing they meet requirements such as speaking solid, conversational English, having consistent access to the internet, adhering to food hygiene standards, and being able to offer an authentic, enriching, and unique local experience. Unlike Urban Adventures’ standard partner program, there is no initial fee to get involved in the “Home Cooked” program.
In high demand are hosts from places that are famous the world over for their hospitality, like Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, and Turkey.
Interested applicants must be able to provide ‘home cooked’ experiences in destinations not currently covered by Urban Adventures. To apply, people can take a photo of their family enjoying a home cooked meal, and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #UAhomecooked. Alternatively they can email administration(at)urbanadventures(dot)com with their photo.
