1. Avenue des Champs Elysées:
A walk down the lovely Champs Elyseés is a Paris must. “Il y a tousquevousvoulez”- “Everything you want is here”, says the popular French song about this boulevard. Be it Christmas or the Tour de France, the name Champs Elysees cannot be dissociated with any important event in the city. The colorful elite shops, the charming Parisian Cafes and the shady chestnut trees are sure to delight anyone.
2. Le Louvre
The Louvre is perhaps the most popular museum in the world. This is one of those museums that one doesn’t have to be a nerd to want to visit. The Mona Lisa, the Louvre Pyramid and the myriad other things to see, pullmore than 8 million tourists towards it every single year. But beware; the museum is massive. Tremendous self-restraint is required to manage to see any other sites on the same day.
3. Notre Dame Cathedral
This buff Giant is also one of the indubitable Paris Must-sees. The gothic cathedral with its striking stained glass work, the sharp arches, and the lovely church bells, is certainly worth careful scrutiny. The majestic church organ of Notre Dame is an astonishing sight. The intricate carvings and designs all over are the perfect transport into another era.
4. The Eiffel Tower
If aliens ever visit earth, one of the first sites humans will recommend them to see is the imposing Eiffel tower. Needless to say, this site is indispensable to any Paris itinerary. The iconic tower also has a restaurant in case you want to dine in style and you can always climb the tower to see the city from there. But frankly, just looking at the metal lattice structure from the Champ de Mars is the best Paris experience to be had.
5. Le SacréCoeur
The basilica of the Sacré Coeur atop Monmartre hill stands tall upon the magnificent city. This majestic white church is built in the Byzantine style and has breathtaking interiors as well. While the church itself is pretty, the views from the site are breathtaking. Seeing Paris from the Sacre should certainly be on the Paris must-do list.
6. Arc De Triomphe
When visiting the Champs Elysees, one cannot miss this stunning triumphal arch that marks one of its ends. Another iconic structure that defines France and Paris; it makes sense to give its intricate architecture a good hard look. Best visited when brightly lit up at night!
7. The Pantheon
The Pantheon in Paris is another beautiful church worth a see. The neo-classical building has intricate carvings and the façade emulates the design of the Pantheon in Rome. The interiors are simply spectacular and the paintings and decorations as well as the graves of the illustrious make this one a must see.
8. Musee d’Orsay
The building of this museum has a fascinating history. It used to be a theatre, a railway station and even a parking lot. Today, it is home to painting, sculpture, photograph and art-object collections like nowhere else in the world. In the city of museums and churches, this one stands out as one of the best.
9. Catacombs of Paris
This eerie site may not be for everyone but it is an experience. The labyrinth of tombs that runs under certain European cities; Catacombs have the power to spook people out while captivating them. The stacked up skulls and the inscriptions are a spine-chilling experience that is not to be missed.
