"I believe this revival of versatile knitwear will be permanent. Women today want comfortable, high-quality, fashionable clothes for a variety of occasions, and knitwear delivers that."

Paris designer Romy merges the comfort of knitwear with elegant design in her new brand for women, Romy and Ray. The easy-to-wear styles feature comfortable natural fibers that combine a blend of French craftsmanship and elegance with American comfort and spirit.
The new line offers casual chic styles that are appropriate for virtually any occasion. "I wanted to create sophisticated clothes that are chic yet comfortable," Romy says. "My goal was to design styles that can be worn on the weekend, at the office, and could even be dressed up for a social occasion."
Romy insists on using the finest natural yarns for the new label. She employs knit fabric made cotton, linen, and silk for the spring line. Blends with cashmere and wool make the winter line warm and cozy. Pieces include elegant but functional cape designs, as well as jackets, coats, and sweaters. Romy's new take on the quilted down coat is stylish, softly padded, and incredibly warm. Asymmetrical sweaters and jackets in cozy cashmere and wool blends can be dressed up or down for the occasion. For a night out, Romy created elegant jumpsuits in classic black in winter-weather fabrics.
Romy and Ray, named after the designer and the initials of her husband and children, is well on its way to winning over the hearts of women who love comfort and style. Even before the official launch more than 500 Facebook fans joined the brand's page. The design is proving popular with both American and French women.
When she was only 20 years old, Romy began her design career working in knitwear. Although she fell into this particular design work, she says today that creating fashionable knit clothes is her passion. The skills needed to create quality knitwear have almost become a lost art. "Knitwear isn't well-known among top designers because the techniques to work with it aren't taught anymore and they think of it as fabric only used in sportswear," she says. "But I believe this revival of versatile knitwear will be permanent. Women today want comfortable, high-quality, fashionable clothes for a variety of occasions, and knitwear delivers that."
