planIT HARDWARE Settles into New Warehouse in Smyrna
Smyrna, GA (PRWEB) December 23, 2013 -- planIT HARDWARE, an Atlanta IT hardware and used Cisco reseller, announces today that its move into its new Smyrna location is now final and official. The young company was previously located in the West Midtown section of Atlanta proper. The new facilities feature accommodations and amenities that will cater to the company’s growing customer base and are a testament to the tremendous growth it has seen this past year alone.
2013 saw two award wins for the reseller, both of which were for being a fastest-growing company—the AJC Pacesetter Award (Atlanta) and the Inc. 5000 (nationwide). On top of this, the company hired two new employees, with a third hire forthcoming. The year ended with the large move from the old location on Collier Rd in Atlanta to the new Highlands Park facility in Smyrna. Nearly every inch of the old warehouse was filled up with inventory, and the new storage space is more than ample, according to the team.
“On the surface, and most apparent, is the increase in space,” says Operations Manager Ryan Sanders. “It has allowed us to consolidate and group the inventory specific to type and part number. The restructuring of our inventory is providing greater efficiency with the same amount of man power.” He says the new space makes it easier to facilitate larger orders in both purchasing and sales. He continues to note that, “a more efficient warehouse lends itself to greater accuracy, a continued zero-loss standard and, most importantly, a higher quality product for our customers.”
With an expanded open-floor cubicle workspace, a high-end Keurig coffee machine with a nearly endless supply of K-cups, an exercise room, several bathrooms (one of which includes a shower), and even a half-court basketball setup replete with regulation-sized backboard, the Smyrna location offers several new amenities for the 11-employee-team. eCommerce Sales team member Owen Caldwell says that “the new, open sales floor allows us to all communicate better with one another.” Even the sheer size of the workspace has some employees excited: “When I see all this fresh space we never had before, I can really envision the direction this company is heading in as far as building out the team, employee growth,” says Assistant Controller Amanda Brown.
One of the most prominent and important new features, in addition to the extended warehouse, is a more advanced testing lab. As opposed to a room the size of a private office, the new lab resembles more of a classroom in size and layout. Several tables and desks line the walls, allowing for individual stations for different tasks. IT Technician Paul Saunders says, “This really allows me to organize and prioritize several different tasks and objectives at once. I can test freshly received items before they are fully inventoried while also testing something that is about to be sent out.” Saunders says this room is also safer and more comfortable to work in, for both the equipment and the person testing it: it has its own HVAC system for customized air conditioning and is completely anti-static to prevent damage to the hardware. “We can now test much more equipment because, as opposed to the old lab, where we had to move servers and other towers that house equipment for testing and racking, we have stationary chassis that I can walk up to at a given moment and plug something into.”
So what lies ahead for the IT hardware reseller? Company owner Paul Hogg is pleased with the new location, including its testing lab and warehouse, and has a few more plans looking forward to the future: "I'm very pleased with the rate at which this company has been growing. We’ve rapidly outgrown every space we’ve occupied in a very short period of time. Now, we’ve decided to build out a large space to give us room to grow into. With the new facilities, I have vision for our team to increase in number, and our operations to expand while maintaining the same quality and efficiency that's gotten us this far."
