In today's transparent digital age, we believe monitoring, reporting, and proactive and automated communications are a necessity. - Scott Hilton, Dyn EVP

Dyn, the worldwide leader in Internet performance solutions, announced today it has acquired ReadyStatus, a tool that notifies customers of planned and unplanned service interruptions, thereby creating improved communication between end users and companies.
The company has many plans for this new service, one of which includes integrating ReadyStatus with Dyn Managed DNS advanced feature Traffic Director, so if a company’s site goes down, their homepage can automatically failover to a status update page and end users won’t be left in the dark. Dyn customers should expect general availability and complete integration into the future product suite in the next year.
“We are committed to helping our customers manage the performance of their service delivery platforms,” said Scott Hilton, Dyn EVP, Product. “Dyn technology focuses on optimized user experience: reliability, speed, and control. In today’s transparent digital age, we believe monitoring, reporting, and proactive and automated communications are a necessity.”
The acquisition continues Dyn’s laser-focused commitment to Internet performance, emboldened throughout 2013 by a brand repositioning effort, two additional company acquisitions, and a recruiting strategy of the best and brightest minds behind today’s Internet infrastructure.
ReadyStatus, founded by Libby Horton, was built on the belief that when there’s a problem with a website, its customers need to be informed while engineers resolve the issue behind the scenes.
API driven, highly redundant and highly reliable, ReadyStatus allows companies to outsource their status page to a dedicated provider that hosts and manages it on a separate infrastructure from the rest of the company’s application stack. If there is a planned or unplanned disruption of service, users can be updated on when things will be back online.
While this is a valuable service for end users, it is also incredibly beneficial for internal communication as well. With ReadyStatus, company employees will be able to sign up for alerts so they can be notified whenever there is a change to site availability. ReadyStatus pages are designed for Android, iPhone, tablet, Mac, and PC, providing a great user experience regardless of operating system.
"We are very excited about ReadyStatus joining Dyn,” said Horton. “The ability to bring high-quality status sites to Dyn's outstanding customer base, as well as integrating into the Internet performance capabilities of the Dyn portfolio, will make a far greater impact on the market than we could have done on our own."
About Internet Performance
Dyn formally repositioned the company as an Internet performance solutions provider in August, when it refocused messaging from that of managed DNS & email delivery to traffic management, message management, and performance assurance. This was done to address an expanding market segment and ensure the company’s place in the broader infrastructure discussion.
It was an easy transition, as for more than a decade, Dyn’s traffic management products have been ensuring that websites are as fast, reliable, and resilient as possible, while its message management services ensure emails consumers want and need reach their inboxes. Earlier this year, Dyn acquired both Verelo and Trendslide in order to offer performance monitoring and alerting services to its customers.
“If you’ve read the headlines recently, you know that Akamai acquired Prolexic and Verizon purchased Edgecast,” said Kyle York, Dyn Chief Revenue Officer. “We’re very happy to see the public and media beginning to understand and discuss the importance of Internet performance. On a volatile Internet, the expectations for performance continue to grow and we’re excited to continue to deliver for our customers.”
Dyn solutions are at the core of Internet performance. Through traffic management, message management and performance assurance, Dyn is connecting people through the Internet and ensuring information gets where it needs to go, faster and more reliably than ever before. Incorporated in 2001, Dyn’s global presence services more than four million enterprise, small business and personal customers.
