Oaks Christian Online High School Junior Rides in Foxfield’s December Holiday Hunter-Jumper Show
Westlake Village, CA (PRWEB) December 22, 2013 -- Gloria Holzapfel will be riding and jumping at the Foxfield Holiday Competition in Westlake Village, CA, on December 29th, 2013. Foxfield Riding School has been in existence since 1967, and the 45th annual unrated holiday event is known for its Gambler’s Choice Jumpers and an event that includes jumping the Christmas tree to earn the most points. Riders will come from all over for the event and look for ‘clean’ runs, with the horse hitting no rails or fences, and the fastest times.
Gloria Hozapfel has been riding for only 4 years and jumping for only 3 1/2, but she regularly rides as a hunter-jumper in the 15-17 age division and jumps at 3 ft. Gloria also works as a Barn Manager at Foxfield and is part of Foxfield’s Drill Team, an internationally renowned drill routine group that does not use the aid of saddles, stirrups, bits or bridles. She also performs in equitation, where the rider and their ability to perform in rhythm with the horse and make the riding look effortless is considered another form of classic English horse riding. Gloria previously rode for the Oaks Christian High School team at Hansen Dam Equestrian Center competitions. Gloria started riding at Foxfield, but is excited about competing more avidly and taking her riding to the next level. She has been in several shows recently at the Stradivarius Equestrian Center in Santa Paula, CA, and has high hopes for competing at the national level. She plans to start in January with earning ribbon points in the San Fernando and Los Angeles Hunter Jumper Associations in her first full year of earning points.
Gloria joined Oaks Christian Online High School in order to spend more time with her riding. Gloria’s mother is German, and her father travels frequently to Korea and other parts of the world as a pastor, evangelist and conference speaker. Taking online high school courses allows Gloria to focus on her riding but also be flexible in case of her parents’ travel plans. She is invested in a college-preparatory education and is taking online AP English Language, because she knows she would like to minor in English and major in business. She hopes to attend a prestigious university such as Pepperdine University or the University of Chicago for their MBA program. She says, “Thanks to Oaks Christian online high school, I am able to facilitate more riding and competition opportunities while maintaining a highly academic education. Oaks Christian Online School is not easier than attending a traditional college-preparatory school, but it is preparing me for the rigors of working on my own in college - all this while having the freedom to pursue my riding.”
