Luxury Train Club Announces Extra Journeys On The Blue Train, Luxury Rail Travel In South Africa, And A New Route From Durban
Chippenham, Wiltshire, UK (PRWEB UK) 23 December 2013 -- The Luxury Train Club highlights more journeys on the Blue Train due to an expected rise in demand for luxury rail travel in South Africa in 2014 as well as a new route between Durban and Pretoria.
Members of the Luxury Train Club benefit from a Member discount on all these journeys, as well as a thank-you gift for booking and the offer from the Blue Train of a complimentary hotel night before and after the journey (Cape Town / Pretoria route). Membership is simple and free, by subscription to the Club newsletter.
The Blue Train is South Africa’s iconic luxury train, which can trace its origins back to 1923. There are now in fact enough carriages to make up two trains, which permit a fuller timetable than in the past.
The Cape Town / Pretoria itinerary includes a night on the train in cabins or suites, each of which has a private bathroom, and an halt en route.
Northbound, the train calls at Matjiesfontein, founded by an immigrant Scotsman in 1884. It became a fashionable oasis for the rich and privileged, visited by Lord Randolph Churchill and Rudyard Kipling; it was also home to Olive Schreiner, one of South Africa’s first feminist writers.
On the southbound journey, the visit is to diamond-town Kimberley, with its railway museum and an old tram ride to the Open Mine Museum for a tour; there is a chance to win a diamond.
The new route between Durban and Pretoria is operating just twice in 2014, each way. Durban is considered as South Africa’s ‘playground’, with world-class golf resorts and hotel, much natural beauty and a benign climate.
The Club’s unique Calendar of Luxury Train Journeys helps travel planning.
Simon Pielow, concierge at the Luxury Train Club says, “A luxury train is the best way to travel on Earth; the Blue Train showcases South Africa with its panoramic views, hospitable service and fine dining, now with more departures and a new route.”
