New Survey Shows Procrastination and Motivation Are Biggest Hurdles to Self-Improvement

According to an online survey conducted by personal development publisher (, nearly 50% of respondents cited procrastination or [lack of] motivation as the main thing holding them back from living their best life. Not having enough time, not knowing how to live better, and not believing they can live better were all ranked far lower than procrastination and [lack of] motivation.

Before setting a New Year resolution it's important people understand what's kept them from achieving their goals in the past. According to new survey data from online personal development publisher (, over 50% of respondents cited procrastination or [lack of] motivation as the #1 thing holding them back from improving their life.

This is interesting news, considering that in today's busy world we often hear that time is the #1 constraint in self-improvement, but "I don't have enough time" was only cited by 11% of respondents as the #1 thing holding them back from living their best life.

This does not surprise CEO & Founder Dan Cassidy.

"We often hear from our readers that procrastination is a big problem in their life. And procrastination can be a by-product of not being motivated, so it makes sense these two responses account for half of the results from this survey."

Other responses that were cited by respondents when asked the question "What is the one thing holding you back from living your best life?" included "I don't know how to live better" cited by 11% of respondents and "I don't think I can live better", chosen by 4% of respondents. Other responses that in total made up less than 24% included lack of energy, fear of failure, not having enough money, and low confidence.
