Dallas’ Park Cities Pet Sitter Presents $1455.78 in Money, Gift Cards and Supplies to Big Fix for Big D as Part of the NAPPS Presents 4 Pets Initiative
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 23, 2013 -- Earlier this month, Park Cities Pet Sitter President, Joette White, presented $1455.78 worth of money, gift cards and supplies to Maura Davies and Julie Siegel of the SPCA of Texas, who accepted the donation on behalf of Big Fix for Big D. The Big Fix for Big D initiative is a multi-year effort of four community partners to spay or neuter tens of thousands of pets in Dallas to significantly diminish the numbers of unwanted litters, with the ultimate goal of reducing euthanasia at Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center. Through the Big Fix for Big D initiative, the City of Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center (DAS), Spay Neuter Network (formerly Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project, KCAAP), Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas (SPCA of Texas), will offer free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and registrations in selected zip codes in the Dallas area.
The donation was presented at the SPCA of Texas Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic at Village Fair at 4830 Village Fair Drive in Dallas. This is one of the locations where the free spay and neuter surgeries Big Fix for Big D funds occur. Ms. White was fortunate enough to get a guided tour of the facility, and saw first-hand the work that her company’s donations would help fund.
“It was heart-warming to see the numerous pets that were there getting spayed or neutered that day," said Ms. White. "One thing that many animal lovers don’t realize is that there are thousands of wonderful pet parents who love their pets dearly and want to provide the best care for them, but it is difficult economically for them to do so. Many simply can’t afford regular vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries, but know how important providing these things is for their animals. With Big Fix for Big D, these pet parents now have a way to acquire these services at no cost to them.”
Ms. White said that participating for the first time in the NAPPS Presents for Pets initiative has inspired her to be even more involved in Dallas pet community events in 2014. “There are so many wonderful charities in Dallas like Big Fix for Big D that need more recognition throughout the community and continued donations to do their work. The old adage that ‘helping others is good for the soul’ really does apply here. To see first-hand how our efforts can make a difference in reducing unwanted litters is as much a gift for us to witness as it is to the pet and the pet owner. We hope Park Cities Pet Sitter can do even more to help the Dallas pet community in the coming year.”
