Farmington, CT (PRWEB) December 30, 2013
For demonstrated excellence in health literacy in printed communications for consumers, Nurtur®, the health, wellness and productivity company, received the 1st Place ReadsEasy™ Publication Award in the 2013 Leonard G. Doak Health Literacy Innovator Contest. This national competition seeks to recognize the country’s best practices in print, in practices and in the media.
The Nurtur “Healthy Solutions for Life” flyer series was developed by a multidisciplinary workgroup of content creators as a low-cost way to reach and engage members enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid health plans. Dual-language flyers were written, edited and designed with a focus on health literacy. Field testing was conducted in focus groups to solicit user feedback and incorporate recommendations.
“Nurtur health coaching programs offer support and education to low-income and aged, blind and disabled people with chronic diseases across the U.S. We needed to improve members’ knowledge of their conditions and inform them about ways to improve health,” says Sydney Webb, Ph.D. Director, Member Communications and Engagement. “We are honored to be recognized as an innovator in health literacy.”
“The number of quality outstanding applications received for our 4th Annual Award is validation of the growing progress and commitment the health care industry is making to health literacy and plain language principles,” says Health Literacy Innovations Content and Multi-Language Chief Aracely Rosales. “We congratulate all the applicants and judges for their time, effort, and commitment to maintaining health literacy excellence.”
