Announcement: GuitarControl.com releases “easy blues licks guitar lesson using bends”
(PRWEB) December 26, 2013 -- In this guitar lesson, now available on YouTube.com, Claude Johnson teaches some easy blues guitar licks using the bending technique.
Claude demonstrates these licks using the B minor pentatonic scale in the root position at the 7th fret of the 6th string. “I like the key of B because it’s not too low on the neck and it’s not too high”, says Johnson. Claude explains how bending lower on the neck, such as the key of F at the first fret, is very difficult because the strings have more tension lower in the neck and that playing higher on the neck your fingers are more cramped together because of the closer fret spacing. Claude explains the technique as bending the string up with your fingers to the next note of the scale. “The hardest thing for beginners is to bend in pitch”, says Johnson, this can be practiced by simply playing the target note and then bending the fretted note until they are the same pitch, such as bending the 9th fret of the 3rd string until it is the same pitch as the 7th fret of the 2nd string. Claude performs these bends using his fourth finger to fret the bent note, but uses his other fingers behind it to make it easier to bend the string which he refers to as “reinforced bending”. Claude also says that you want to practice the bends using vibrato as well. Next Claude talks about bending a note and following it with playing either up or down the scale, plus several other beginner bending licks.
