Aid in Recovery Comments on Recent Study of Naltrexone for use in Opioid Addiction Treatment
West Palm Beach, Florida (PRWEB) January 03, 2014 -- Aid in Recovery released a statement today commenting on recent research into the effectiveness of the drug Nalltrexone in the treatment of opiod addiction.
The study, which was carried out by researchers at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute (Naltrexone treatment for opioid dependence: does its effectiveness depend on testing the blockade?, November 1, 2013), examines the effectiveness of Naltrexone and its injectable form Vivitrol in treatment for opioid dependence. The study found that injections of Naltrexone was effective in eliminating drug-seeking behavior after episodes of opiate use, and may also attenuate craving before opiate use has occurred.
In light of these results, Aid in Recovery released a statement reaffirming their commitment to using all of the tools at their disposal to combat opioid addiction, and other drug seeking behavior.
