De Niro 'Eyed for Lead' in Hotly Anticipated “Gambling Man” Movie Based on Casino Icon Gary Green's Book
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) December 29, 2013 -- Investors in Borsalino Films (a leader in production, distribution, film, video, and audio stock) report that Robert De Niro is among the actors being considered for the highly sought after male leading role in “Gambling Man,” the film based on Gary Green’s best-selling casino book by the same title.
Just before Christmas 2013, Borsalino Films acquired the rights to “Gambling Man,” the book by casino icon Gary Green tracing his adventures in “the casino racket and not the gaming industry.”
In the endless saga of Las Vegas films that are made and remade, “Gambling Man” is the first movie based on the first-person exploits of a genuine casino icon. The plot line will be nothing short of epic, like the book, pulling no punches as it traces the boss’s personal escapades through the history of the casino world from the last days of Meyer Lansky to Green’s adventures as a Donald Trump Vice President.
“De Niro is certainly the most recognized of the actors we are eyeing for the lead in this landmark investment; but we there are several in contention and we have not even begun official talks,” confirmed Lu Nay, of Puji Capital, one of the Shanghai China groups funding the Borsalino project.
The movie version of the nitty-gritty book is not only hotly awaited by fans, but by Hollywood in general, after a long-speculated process to get the non-fiction casino insider’s tell-all to the big screen.
Hollywood insiders, such as horror-film king Bill Oberst Jr., have been abuzz for several months on Twitter and Facebook after seeing Green in Hollywood at Red Carpet events, The Magic Castle, and other “hot spots” being courted by film industry executives.
In late December 2013, Borsalino finally confirmed the acquisition of the rights to Green’s book.
