"We love the fact a peak lapel lengthens the body and draws the eye upward," said Catherine Conway, Director of Merchandising.

The 525 Tom James professional clothiers are meeting this week in San Antonio for the unveiling of the Fall Winter line for Tom James.

Titled, Tailored to the Way You Live, Tom James’ Fall Winter 2013 provides style while focusing on the service they provide.

“We recognize we serve a wide and varying clientele,” said Catherine Conway, Director of Merchandising. “Certainly our focus is custom tailored clothing, but that look can vary, depending on your life style.”

With a nod to tradition, Tom James recognizes iconic style features, such as peak lapels, are a returning trend. “We’ve always had peak lapels in our model book as they are as timeless,” noted Conway. “What’s intriguing is that peak lapels are typically saved for double-breasted jackets, tuxedos and dinner jackets.

“We love the fact a peak lapel lengthens the body and draws the eye upward and puts focus on the broader shoulder, especially when paired with trim pants. It’s very flattering.”

Also returning for Fall is the three-piece suit, with new attention paid to richer colors, such as blue. Blue is the new navy, according to Conway. The trim suit, in Mad Men style is still quite popular and has become the preferred look for men of all ages.

Conway also notes that since Tom James makes most of their fabrics and offers over 1100 fabric choices for suits, making the customer truly in control over their entire look.

Conway said, “We service very busy professionals. So the fact we can bring these fabric choices directly to them saves them time. They will never have to wrangle for a parking place, never have to wait in line or covet a garment that is no longer available in their size. We offer a truly custom experience tailored to the way our clients live.”

Tom James, at their meeting, welcomed nearly 100 new clothiers who have joined their company since January. They are on track to hire over 150 clothiers this calendar year, a reflection of the welcome acceptance to their business model.

Tom James is the world’s largest custom men’s suit manufacturer and retailer. It operates 109 offices in 36 US states and 5 countries, internationally. It owns and operates 3 woolen mills, 8 factories and is proud to say over 90% of its tailored garments are made in the USA.
