A study conducted by Google Consumer Surveys has suggested that roughly 2 out of 10 people, or in other words, 20 percent of the U.S. population use baby changing stations. Adult members of the nation’s internet population were asked to answer this simple question, along with two other inquiries, last October 2012.
The same survey also asked the respondents to rate the importance of the presence of a baby changing station to their choice of restaurants from 1 to 5, the former being the lowest and the latter being the highest. Surprisingly, the results of the survey showed that 20 percent of the population believe baby changing stations to be worthy of a perfect score, which carries with it a verbal interpretation of “very important.”
Pairing the results of both questions, it seems incredibly coincidental that the number of respondents who have used a baby changing station at least once is equal to the number of respondents that classify the feature as “very important.” We can’t discount the possibility that the same people, who have used the product, may have also testified to its importance.
Regardless of the correlation between the two figures though, the fact that roughly 20 percent of the population has used a baby changing station is amazing in itself. The large number of users is a testament to the popularity of the product, and the very real need that it answers. Although, all new parents sincerely hope to never experience junior’s ill-timed potty, it’s still comforting to know that a frequented establishment has one of these miracle-working stations on hand!
