RideSafer Travel Vest Now Compatible with More Vehicles
Chandler, AZ (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- The Energy Absorbent Tether Anchor Loop (EATAL) is a new accessory that acts as a tether anchor point in situations where the vehicle has no tether anchor point. Designed and manufactured by Safe Traffic System, Inc., the RideSafer® Travel Vest Version 2 and EATAL work together to create a safe ride for children in a wider variety of vehicles.
The RideSafer® Version 2 is the version of vest that can be used with a lap-only belt when connected to a tether anchor point because the vest and tether provide upper body restraint. The EATAL creates a tether anchor point in vehicles that don’t otherwise have one like buses, large passenger vans, and some trucks, minivans and SUVs.
The EATAL is used by wrapping it around something that is anchored to the frame of the vehicle, like a seat mount, then the tether strap that comes with the RideSafer® Version 2 would clip to the loop. The loop offers even more flexibility to the convenience and safety offered by the RideSafer® Travel Vest, an alternative to booster seats.
The RideSafer®, also distributed by Safe Ride 4 Kids, gives parents another option of child restraint that is easy to use, lightweight to travel with and, since it is worn on the child, easy to transfer from car to car. During a crash the RideSafer® absorbs the force of impact and distributes the energy throughout a wider area of the body, reduces head excursion by allowing the child to sit directly on the vehicle's seat and properly positions the vehicle seat belt on the child, while not restricting movement.
The fact remains there are still many children who ride in a vehicle using only the adult seat belt or not being restrained at all. According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study of automobile crashes between 1999-2008, 2,530 children were using only adult seat belts and 1,600 children were not restrained at all. This study shows an average of 8,560 children being injured each year in traffic crashes, 253 of which are fatal injuries and 8,025 are severe, incapacitating injuries. When used correctly child restraint systems for children 4 to 8 years old, like the RideSafer® or belt-positioning boosters, dramatically reduces the risk of severe and fatal injuries to the head, neck and internal organs.
The RideSafer® Travel Vest is a safer, exceeding Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS 213), and less cumbersome restraint system for this age range of children. The unique padded vest design of the RideSafer® Travel Vest allows it to be comfortably worn by children from about 3 to about 8‐12 years old who weigh between 30 to 80 pounds. The RideSafer® Travel Vest is available in two different sizes. The small size is recommended for children 30‐60 pounds and the large size is for children weighing 50‐80 pounds. It also comes in two versions. Both can be used with a standard lap and shoulder seat belt system and the Version 2 can be used with a lap‐only belt and tether in the rear seat of any vehicle. Due to its compact design, it allows ample room for seating 3‐across in back seat of most smaller cars.
About Safe Ride 4 Kids
Safe Ride 4 Kids was formed by a group of four parents, three of whom are Child Passenger Safety Technicians, to educate other parents about the RideSafer® Travel Vest specifically and car seat safety in general. We found the RideSafer® to be a little known and very innovative solution to many parents’ car seat challenges.
