Summer Map Games Have Been Released on Kids Activities Blog
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 05, 2013 -- Summer map games have been released on Kids Activities Blog. Seasoned Moms are sharing their favorite map games that combine following directions with map skill learning.
The grid map game teaches essential life skills. Set up a 6 x 6 grid on the floor using yarn, masking tape, and sticky notes. Mark of the grid according to the template provided on Kids Activities Blog. Place sticky notes with corresponding numbers in each square.
Let the child begin in the first square. Provide directions such as take 3 steps forward, take one step to the left, and take two steps backwards. The child has to follow a certain path to get out of the grid. It is almost like going through a maze by following directions.
Variations of the game can be played outside with cones, taking turns reading out loud to follow directions, and following directions that have been drawn on a piece of paper. The ideas are endless.
Another map skills game can be played by going on a treasure hunt inside the house. Draw a sketch of the house layout, include furniture as landmarks on the map. Hide items such as LEGO mini figures or snacks and mark the spots on the map. Help the kids find the first treasure. Afterwards let them find the remaining treasures on their own. One will be amazed at the speed the kids have learned studying and reading a map.
