Newburgh, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- Eric Egeland, CEO of Capacity Consulting, Inc. was used to traveling to Manhattan, New Jersey, California, and almost every other state in the union to start companies, help companies turn around, and help them sell.
On January 1, 2012 he decided to try a different model that he called Capacity “local”. The idea was to make Capacity’s management consulting expertise available to many small/medium companies, instead of just one big company at a time. He chose his home base of the Hudson Valley as the nucleus for this new company vision. They offer a host of services including startup assistance, Funding Preparation™, problem solving, growth and marketing strategy, and Sale Preparation™, just to name a few.
As a local businessman who hadn’t worked locally for over 10 years, it took some time to let everyone know what Capacity had to offer, how they conducted business, and most importantly to show some results. Egeland credits the local chambers of commerce and some early referral partners for helping him gain traction early on. “There are some key people and organizations that saw the value we bring right away and referred us to their colleagues and clients. Doing well by them, resulted in repeated referrals. 71% of our business comes to us from referrals. The Orange, Sullivan, and Dutchess Chambers of Commerce and Partnerships for Economic Development have been absolutely crucial to our success to date.”
It was clear early on that some smaller Hudson Valley businesses were not familiar with management consulting so Capacity Consulting, Inc. changed their name to Capacity Business Consulting and commissioned a new logo to better state what they do. A new website was designed to clearly show the company’s services, complete with case studies and testimonials. “Some people thought we were either Fortune 500 consultants or business coaches but we are everything in between,” smiled Egeland, “Our clients have included everything from a one person Pilates studio to a insurance companies. Regarding coaching, we absolutely advise our clients. The big difference is we don’t give advice based on gut or instinct. We do things like feasibility studies, strategic marketing plans, and funding using objective research. Then we advise from a place of knowledge and strength.”
The company brought on a business development consultant late last year and her success resulted in two additional consultants in Ulster and Dutchess. The company is currently looking for business development consultants in Northern New Jersey, Rockland County, and White Plains. “Soon we will need additional analysts’ as well. The more businesses discover we are a secret weapon, the more we are in demand. I am thrilled with our progress and ability to help our clients do so well,” said Eric.
