Karuna for Animals Hosts Long Island's First Vegan and Animal Rights Festival
Long Island, NY (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Local animal rights group, Karuna for Animals: Compassion In Action, Inc., is hosting Long Island’s first vegan and animal rights festival in Huntington this Saturday. The event will include live cooking demonstrations, musical performances, animal adoptions, and educational talks related to plant-based living, sustainability, and animal rights.
"It is my hope that through our organization, and our events, we can continue to grow this community of activists and extend our reach. The people of Long Island are becoming more progressive, more aware and conscious of the larger issues we as passionate activists are facing, and they are meeting the challenges. We always need more help, more awareness, and more courage to promote change. Our foundation is strong and I am proud to be a part of it," said Erica Settino, Founder and Executive Director of Karuna for Animals.
Event speakers will cover a myriad professionals and topics including the Co-Founder and Director of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, Jenny Brown; certified holistic health counselor and vegan lifestyle coach, Victoria Moran; Jennifer Green, a member of the Carnism Awareness and Action Network; and Demosthenes Maratos, Communications Director at the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College.
The event will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington on July 13th, 2013 from 10AM to 7PM. Admission is $5 per person, children under 12 years old enter for free.
