Dr. Kevin Sadati of Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery Discusses New Trend in Ethnic Rhinoplasty
Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) July 05, 2013 -- "My practice is located in Southern California where the population is made up of many different ethnic groups," Dr. Kevin Sadati said. "Therefore, I see numerous patients who want to improve the appearance of their nose, but not lose their connection to their roots. It's important, to them, that they continue to look like their family members, but have their nose look more proportional to their entire face."
Nose jobs can be particularly challenging surgeries since the nose is so important to the overall balance of the face. Without specialized training and lots of experience, a nose job can completely change a person's identity and make them look like someone else altogether.
"That's especially true of ethnic noses, which simply cannot be made to look like the nose of someone from another ethnic group. It just won't look natural, and the patient will not be pleased with the results," Dr. Kevin Sadati said.
In fact, some cosmetic surgeons see the "ethnic" nose as a feature to be eliminated from the face. Dr. Kevin Sadati thinks differently. He approaches ethnic rhinoplasty as a way to subtly improve a patient's genetic features, not remove them entirely.
"For example, I would never recommend a Middle Eastern patient have a scooped dorsum. The scooped dorsum is usually found on Caucasians, so it just wouldn't look right on someone from India, Iraq or Pakistan. It would be obvious that the patient had a nose job," Dr. Kevin Sadati said. "Instead, I would incorporate the straight dorsum that's common to their ethnic group into the procedure. That way, the patient could retain the beautiful things about their ethnicity while enjoying a more balanced appearance that isn't as noticeable."
