HeroesBLS Training Offers General Tips on CPR and Attaining CPR Certification
(PRWEB) July 08, 2013 -- According to the American Heart Association, nearly 383,000 out-of-hospital instances of cardiac arrest are recorded annually, four out of five instances occurring at home. In addition, 70% of Americans do not have the necessary training and skills to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an emergency situation. Immediate administration of CPR can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival; however, only 32 percent of cardiac arrest victims receive CPR from a bystander. As a result, less than eight percent of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital survive. Heroes BLS training, a provider of CPR Training, offers a few tips and general information regarding the importance of giving CPR to a person who has suddenly become a victim of cardiac arrest.
1. CPR certification is not only for those who specialize in the medical field. With the daunting statistics from the American Heart Association, only 30 percent of Americans are prepared to save a person’s life during cardiac arrest. To increase the odds of survival for those who suddenly become victims of cardiac arrest, it is crucial that the overall percentage of the general public with CPR certification rises in order to increase the chances of survival. CPR classes are readily available to the general public in all areas of the United States. In order to strengthen a community, it is important that more people educate themselves in case of a future emergency.
2. CPR should be administered immediately, as the lack of blood circulation throughout the body can cause permanent damage to the brain and body in as little as five minutes.
3. A person with proper CPR training and certification should be the one to administer CPR. Since immediate action is of utmost importance, there is no time to consult a field manual or training video. Also, simple errors such as incorrect hand placement and the incorrect depth of chest compressions can be the difference between life and death.
