There are over 88 million reasons why Beyoncé was named one of the top five most powerful celebrities in the latest issue of Forbes.
For starters, the pop star brings 17 Grammy Awards on top of 45 nominations, and 88 million albums sold worldwide to the party, making her one of the biggest-selling and most award-winning musical talents of all time. (Source: Billboard.com)
Another factor might be that her latest global tour, which kicked off in April with a 34-date swing through Europe, has sold out to date. Her upcoming North American leg, the first of two, is also selling out, according to Felina Martinez at BuyAnySeat.com.
Beyoncé’s latest trek, dubbed The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, began its initial 27-date continental run with an opener at the sold out Staples Center in Los Angeles last Friday night, and the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The Houston-native returns for an encore at the Staples Center tonight.
Her tour then travels to San Jose, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Sunrise, Miami, Duluth, Nashville, Houston, Chicago, St. Paul, Auburn Hills, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Charlotte, Washington D.C., East Rutherford, and Uncasville.
The wrap to this first North American swing is scheduled for a three night series at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 3-5, 2013.
“Beyoncé is tremendously popular worldwide,” said Felina Martinez at online ticket marketplace BuyAnySeat.com. “Many of her upcoming dates are selling out quickly. We still have a great inventory of tickets to choose from, however.”
“In fact, we’re proud to be able to offer fans the most comprehensive and continuously updated selection of tickets online, with a worry-free guarantee to protect their purchase,” said Martinez.
“To access the complete selection of Beyoncé tickets we now have available, customers can go to BuyAnySeat.com and search for Beyoncé – then select their tickets,” said Martinez.
Beyoncé hit the big time in the 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, one of the world's best-selling girl groups in history. Since then, the star has had a very successful solo career and has been named one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time by VH1. (Source: wikipedia.com)
The star performed the national anthem using a pre-recorded track at President Barack Obama's second inauguration. Next she did the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in New Orleans, singing live. Following her show, she announced The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, which opened in Europe on April 15, 2013.
After the current North American leg, the singer performs at the Summer Music Festival in the United Kingdom in August, and in Philadelphia on August 31. She then opens a Latin American run on September 8.
Her second North American trek, a 14-date tour wrap, opens at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on November 30. After December stops in San Jose, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Louisville, Chicago, St. Louis, Toronto, Washington D.C and Brooklyn – the tour is set to close at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. on December 20.
Forbes top five most powerful celebrities for 2013, in order of ranking, are Oprah, Lady Gaga, Steven Spielberg, Beyoncé and Madonna. The entire list is available online at forbes.com.
