Lil Country Store Opens to Serve the Eagle Ford Oil Fields with Convenience Store Items, Crafts, and Collectibles
Dilley, Texas (PRWEB) July 03, 2013 -- The Lil Country Store, located six miles west of Dilley, Texas, in the Eagle Ford oil fields, will celebrate its grand opening on July 4th, 5th, and 6th. The store will be open 7 AM – 7 PM during the three-day event, and the festivities will take place between 11 AM and 3 PM. The owners describe the store as “convenience coupled with country charm.”
Everyone who attends the grand opening will be treated to a free hotdog, chips, slice of watermelon, and tea or lemonade. There will be hayrides, and children will be given a cup of cattle cubes to hand-feed the cattle that come up to the hay trailer.
Victoria Littlefield, store manager said, “We love our country and know that there’s no better time for a party than when we’re celebrating the nation’s independence. Besides loving our country, we are country and proud of it, so we thought having the Redneck Games would be a lot of fun. There will be horseshoes and washer pitching as well as a watermelon seed spitting contest. The kids can get their faces painted, and our business manager, Lillie Ammann, who is a published author, will be telling stories about country life.”
The three partners call themselves the country gals. They acknowledge that a store six miles out of town is unusual. However, they saw a need for the oil field workers and farmers in the area to have a convenient place to pick up water and sodas, a snack, or a loaf of bread. Truckers often prefer to stop outside of town, and the country gals hope to make the little store a destination for people seeking a fun and different shopping experience for gifts and collectibles.
“Although the store is small, we’ve managed to come up with an eclectic inventory that includes convenience store items, produce fresh from the farm, a few collectibles, and several kinds of crafts,” said Nancy Nicholson, general manager. “We even offer a service that we’ve never seen anywhere else—a drive-up service for 18-wheelers.”
