New North American Manufacturing Facility for Solar Mounting System Now Operational
Shelby, North Carolina (PRWEB) July 03, 2013 -- Schletter©, a worldwide leader in photovoltaic mounting systems, announces that its new North American headquarters in Shelby, North Carolina is operational and production of solar mounting systems and custom sheet metal fabrication is well under way. Expansion of the original structure is complete with 140,000 square feet of highly automated manufacturing space and administrative offices. In Shelby, the company currently employs a staff of 70 at the new location and plans to hire 100 more before the end of the year. In the United States, Schletter employs 200 and globally the company employs more 1,800.
Located in Cleveland County, Schletter’s Shelby, North Carolina facility is now the third North American manufacturing facility opened by the company since starting business in the United States in 2007. The original facility in Tucson, Arizona will continue to to supply products to customers in the western United States, while the new headquarters in Shelby will cover the eastern seaboard.
"With the addition of the Shelby, North Carolina manufacturing facility, Schletter has the largest manufacturing capacity for solar mounting systems in the industry. This, combined with a high level of automation, will enable us to significantly drive down costs, which will be passed on to our customers. The new facility will help us decrease shipping costs, for the east coast in particular," Schletter CEO and President Martin Hausner. In addition to the new Shelby, North Carolina facility, the company maintains offices in Arizona and Connecticut and has plans to open a new office in Texas within the next six months. The company will invite its customers, vendors and community leaders to a grand open celebration for the North Carolina facility in November.
