Under the agreement, Farpoint Ventures will act as an extension of USP Labs’ sales and marketing team to develop sales channels and end user customers in the United States for USP Labs’ flagship big data analytics platform Unicage®. Farpoint Ventures has already localized Unicage® and set up an internet presence for USP Labs at en.usp-lab.com. The localized version of Unicage will be available for purchase in the United States in July both as a license which can be used on customer-owned hardware and as a service on Amazon’s AWS platform.
“Unicage® is used today by many large Japanese retailers including Lawson, the largest convenient store chain in Japan and Muji, a leading retail chain with a global brand,” said USP Labs CEO Nobuaki Tounaka. “We’re confident that US retailers, manufacturers, logistics firms and academics will greatly benefit from Unicage’s ability to enable extremely fast development of algorithms and crunch enormous data sets with unparalleled performance.”
“Farpoint’s global sales team specializes in bringing innovative technologies to new markets,” said James Ryan, Managing Partner of Farpoint Ventures LLC. “We look forward to working with USP Labs to bring their powerful data analytics platform to US customers.”
About Universal Shell Programming Laboratory Ltd.
Founded in 2005 in Tokyo, Japan, USP Lab has developed a platform enabling large enterprises and academic researchers to fast-prototype algorithms using only simple “shell scripting” and run them against enormous datasets (of hundreds of billions of records) returning results of complex queries in under half a second. USP Lab’s Unicage® analytics platform is used by major Japanese retailers, logistics firms, manufacturers and food service chains to provide real-time analytics that optimize business processes on the fly without the high implementation and running cost of traditional “big data” platforms.
