Sierra College Announces World-Class Wrestling Camp
Rocklin, CA (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- When Sierra College wrestling coach Ken Wharry calls his annual summer wrestling camp, “World-Class”, he isn’t kidding. The 2013 camp, slated for July 11-13, features five staff members with U.S. Olympic and World Team ties. Wharry has an impressive resume himself: he was a three-time collegiate All-American, an NAIA national champion, and a Master’s national champion.
The Sierra College World-Class Wrestling Camp, being offered through Sierra’s Community Education program, combines a commuter camp for 8-19-year-olds and a residential camp for ages 10-19. Camp clinicians and staff members are a wrestling who’s-who list of local, national and world coaches and athletes.
In addition to Wharry and his long-time Sierra assistant, Don Martinez, staff members include Hall of Famer and former U.S. Olympic team coach, Shon Lewis, former World Champion, and two-time Olympian Dremiel Byers, two-time Olympian Spenser Mango. Olympians Justin Lester and Oscar Wood, and former Sierra College wrestler Erik Nye, a two-time community college heavyweight champion and U.S. World Team member, round out the clinician headliners. Current Sierra College wrestlers and area high school coaches will also be on hand.
Tuition for the three-day commuter camp is $150. The residential camp fee of $275 includes a double-occupancy, on-campus room and three meals per day, and 24-hour supervision. The camp takes place at Sierra’s Rocklin campus, located at 5000 Rocklin Rd.
