Direct Capital Packages Up Nearly 10,000 Meals For New Hampshire Food Bank
Portsmouth, New Hampshire (PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- The spirit of giving and competition collided at Direct Capital this week, as employees gathered to package up nearly 10,000 meals for the New Hampshire Food Bank.
The Food Bank is currently in dire need for donations and that need is steadily growing in New Hampshire, where one in nine residents require food assistance, according to Food Bank Executive Director Melanie Gosselin.
Direct Capital’s 24 teams put together mini assembly lines, competing to see which team could package the fastest. In the end, everyone won, with the company putting together 9,720 fortified mac n’ cheese meals for the Food Bank.
“We felt the experience was a rewarding one on many levels. For us, it not only put food on our shelves but was a way to engage donors in a unique way, plus give the opportunity for some healthy competition,” said Gosselin.
"This was a great event that enabled all of our employees to get behind the mission of the Hew Hampshire Food Bank," said Direct Capital CEO James Broom. "We're humbled to be able to support this organization's efforts and I think this day truly brought all of us closer to its cause."
