Team Lloyd Irvin Fighter Sijara Eubanks Wins FIVE Grappling SuperFight
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- Lloyd Irvin fighter, Sijara Eubanks, stepped up the challenge and defeated rival Alison Tremblay at the FIVE Grappling Ontario Open this past weekend. Sijara, a brown belt under Lloyd Irvin, was invited to participate in the SuperFight by FIVE Grappling to highlight their first tournament in Ontario. Other SuperFights included Gianni Grippo vs Darson Hemmings, Michael Liere Jr vs Dainis Nguyen, and Thomas Beach vs Drew Ruttle.
When FIVE needed a female to fight Alison Tremblay, the requested Sijara Eubanks of Team Lloyd Irvin. Alison and Sijara had fought three times previously, Sijara winning the first two matches and Alison winning the third.
Sijara, Team Lloyd Irvin, is a 2x IBJJF No Gi World Champion and a 3x IBJJF Pan Am Champion. Alison Tremblay, BTT Canada, is 2012 IBJJF World Champion and 2x IBJJF NoGI Pan Champion.
The match was 6 minutes long, with no advantages or overtime, so one of the ladies would need to win decisively via points or submission.
The match began with both ladies meeting in the middle with aggressive pummeling and grip fighting, but early on Sijara, of Team Lloyd Irvin, shot in for a single leg. Alison sprawled to defend, but Sijara pulled her in and took Alison down for two points. Sijara landed on top and was working to pass Alison’s guard. Alison defended well and locked up a kimura from bottom. Sijara freed herself from the kimura and locked down Alison. From there, Sijara applied some heavy pressure and passed Alison’s guard for three points.
With the score 5-0 in Sijara’s favor, Alison made a scramble to take Sijara down but was unsuccessful. The match restarted on the feet, Alison shot, Sijara sprawled to defend and Alison sat to guard. With only a minute left, Sijara was up 5 points and slowed the pace. This gave Alison an opportunity, she went for the kimura again, this time forcing Sijara to roll to defend and gaining 2 points. Alison needed a submission to win, with less than 20 seconds to attacked Sijara’s arm. Sijara was forced to turn her back to defend the arm lock and almost gave up three more points. Time ran out with Sijara winning 5-2.
