In response to demands from consumers and market sentiment for a safer customer experience when using dating websites, Cupid Plc are taking the lead in improving security and therefore the customer experience. They have introduced a new level of functionality called ‘Safe Mode’ which will allow male users to decide whether they want to be contacted by anyone on the site, or only previously verified ‘Trusted Members’.

...our members can use the sites secure in the knowledge that they are in a safe environment where they can get on with enjoying the experience, making contacts and meeting up, says Sean Wood, Communications Director at Cupid plc

As publisher of the world’s fastest growing and most popular online dating communities, Cupid Plc feels a strong responsibility to its users, and is continuously looking for ways to provide them with the best, and safest, online experience using market leading technology and its unique in-house capabilities.

To this end, it has just launched a new and innovative safe mode functionality for its dating sites. This will ensure that users will still be able to choose with whom they wish to interact, but with the added security of knowing that they can filter out people who don’t wish to verify themselves, and who may not have the same reasons for using the site. The main benefit of this is that the technology will still allow the user access to the whole database of users, but it will enable him to have more confidence regarding the person he is chatting to.

By implementing this state of the art technology, and giving users the opportunity to stay in the ‘Safe Mode’ zone, Cupid Plc believes that it will contribute to a smoother and more positive online experience, and help the users to focus on the main purpose of the sites, which is to socialise, and make new friends.

What makes the ‘Safe Mode’ functionality different from other, similar features on other online dating sites is that it gives the customer the opportunity to decide who they want to communicate with. The function allows the customer to speak only to verified users when switched on or to communicate with everyone if they choose to switch it off. This feature together with our ongoing use and development of powerful anti-scammer processes and technology means the customer can be sure he has the best protection whilst retaining his ability to choose.

We also recognise that not all female customers want to go through the process of becoming verified. And we recognise their need for freedom of choice. So they can continue to use the sites without the verification but will always have the option to become Trusted Members at any time which will then give them access to the people already using safe mode.

At Cupid, we are firmly committed to doing all we can to make sites enjoyable and safe for our customers.

‘We have listened to our customers and to dating website users in general’, says Sean Wood, Communications Director at Cupid Plc. ‘The main goal here is to give our customer choice to decide who they communicate with, this means they can choose verified users only or indeed if they feel comfortable with communicating more widely then they have that ability too. Our members can use the sites secure in the knowledge that they are in a safe environment where they can get on with enjoying the experience, making contacts and meeting up.’

Notes
Safe Mode functionality is currently only available for male users. When ‘Safe Mode’ is ON, you can contact any users you want, but you will only get correspondence (mails/chats) from Trusted Members. However, Any female, if they feel they want to, can easily become a Trusted Member (via SMS text, free call or credit card).
