Scientific Management Techniques Hires Michael Thompson as Senior Vice President - Education Division
Londonderry, New Hampshire (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- Scientific Management Techniques, the global leader in manufacturing skills assessments and manufacturing skills training, is pleased to announce a new addition to the senior management team.
Michael Thompson joins SMT as Senior Vice President of the Education Division. Mr. Thompson has enjoyed a diverse career in the Technical College community serving in many leadership positions including instructing, curriculum development, and administration. Mr. Thompson’s last position was Dean of Apprenticeship and Transportation at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin.
“SMT’s education division is growing rapidly as schools work with industry to identify and deploy an effective solution to the industrial skills shortage. The division has more than doubled in size each of the last two years and we see demand accelerating in 2014 and beyond,” states Stephen Berry, SMT President. “Mike brings a diverse background and an in-depth understanding of the needs of Technical Colleges here and abroad. We look forward to his leadership and insight to compliment our expanding business.”
SMT has been delivering industrial skills training and assessments in manufacturing facilities since 1970. As the manufacturing skills shortage has become more acute, SMT has partnered with many Community and Technical colleges to effectively solve the skills shortage by training to the specific skills required to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a modern manufacturing facility.
“SMT’s programs have a proven legacy of improving both employment and industrial productivity in each market the program is deployed,” states Mr. Thompson. “I have seen this first-hand in Wisconsin and several other states that have embraced the SMT skill solutions. When I saw how SMT was using the assessment program and curriculum training program to close the manufacturing skills gap, I knew it was a perfect fit for my skill set and training philosophy. These hands-on programs are powerful productivity tools and I look forward to working closely with community and technical colleges globally as we collaborate with these institutions to dramatically improve employment and industrial productivity.”
