Every story has to start somewhere. For Reid Scott & Ross, it began 20 years ago at a kitchen table in Airdrie.

Tony Ross and Gavin Scott were two colleagues at a broker firm. In June 1993, they resigned their posts and set up on their own, believing they could do things better.

The two men set up a humble office at Gavin’s kitchen table. The growth was quick. A move to an office in Airdrie soon followed.

The team grew as Paul Angell came on board from Standard Life in 1997, and the company began to develop their Wealth Management offerings.

They moved to an office in Glasgow City Centre in 1999. Then in 2004, Paul and Tony bought Gavin out and the modern incarnation of Reid Scott & Ross began to form.

Talking in 2013, Tony has to pinch himself when he looks back. “It’s hard to believe,” he admits. “We turned over £76,000 in our first year. But now it’s £1.1 million. We’ve gone from having zero funds under management in 1993 to £90 million worth of client assets now.”

“I’m proud of what we’ve become,” he enthuses. “We’re a company that people enjoy working for and clients like what we do. We’ve never been too big for our boots, but we’ve built something out of nothing to become one of the biggest IFAs in Scotland.”

Wealth Management for the 21st Century

“Our promise is to offer an unbeatable wealth management service. We want our clients to know that there is always someone here that they can speak to, someone reliable, honest, independent and transparent. Someone who knows what they are talking about that they can trust.”

“Our clients can always rest assured that they will never receive a modeled portfolio that doesn’t suit them. Their plans will be tailored specifically to their needs.”

And what of the future? “We want to keep growing,” says Tony, “and we’re well on the way to achieving our targets. We’ve got a great online strategy in place to develop what we offer and how we offer it to stay ahead of the game, as is evident in our re-vamped website http://www.reidscottross.co.uk

The future of investment is intriguing and Reid Scott & Ross have their finger on the financial pulse.

Passive Investment is a rational and mathematically proven route to successful investment. It focuses on purchasing investments suited to the client which will achieve sustained performance over the longer term.

It’s a proven fact that very few actively managed funds beat the market index or provide sustained performance over a long period. Passive investment is safer and steady and keeps costs low through long term appreciation.

As for Reid Scott & Ross’s future well, it’s a long way from the kitchen table, but the company is in fine fettle 20 years since it began.

Here’s to the next 20 years.
