Narconon Arrowhead Graduate Opens Local Restaurant
Crowder, Oklahoma (PRWEB) July 04, 2013 -- On May 25th, 2013 a new restaurant opened its doors near Narconon Arrowhead residential drug and alcohol rehab program. Unlike most area restaurant openings this one was different. Not only because the establishment serves authentic Italian food from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but also because it was started by a Narconon Arrowhead graduate.
The owner, Mike George, opened the restaurant as his lifelong dream. He had always wanted to have his own business. In an effort to prepare himself for this he had even worked in many pizza places and Italian eateries in the northeast U.S.
Unfortunately before Mike could fulfill this dream, something happened that he never saw coming. He ended up addicted to drugs.
A Story of Recovery
Seven years ago Mike George will tell you himself that he was in a very different place. He had spent years going in and out of jail and rehab programs. After his family found the Narconon program on the Internet, they suggested he try it. He arrived at the facility excited to experience a new method of treatment, hopeful that it could help him.
“From the moment I started the [Narconon] program I could see that it was designed to help me succeed in life by confronting and overcoming obstacles instead of hiding or masking them with drugs,” says George.
“The Narconon Program helped me to see that I was in control of my life and the decisions I make. I started to rebuild relationships with my family and as I started doing right in my life, I could see that good things were happening to me as a result.”
While enrolled in the Narconon Arrowhead program, Mike also was able to complete a life skills course on changing and improving conditions. He learned how to take exact steps to better his current state. He used the information to improve every area of his own life. Because of his success applying these steps, he decided to work at the facility and for over six years and helped others to do the same.
“I could see how these formulas were applicable in helping me improve my family life, my friendships and even work,” he says. “I was so enthralled by this I wanted others to experience what I had realized during this phase of the program.”
The Restaurant Business
George explains that he always wanted to own his own business. While working at the Narconon Arrowhead facility he used the skills he learned in treatment to formulate a business plan and budget to be able to launch Georgeo’s.
Today George says he has been “happy to call Oklahoma my home for almost 7 years and I feel that it is very satisfying to have started a family here and become a self-established entrepreneur in the very state where I changed my life.”
