Leica Geosystems Names Joel Hurt Jr. Plant Segment Manager, NAFTA
Norcross, GA (PRWEB) July 03, 2013 -- Leica Geosystems has appointed Joel Hurt Jr. to the newly formed position of Plant Segment Manager for the NAFTA region. As part of Leica Geosystems‘ ongoing initiative to strengthen and grow its presence in the plant industry, Joel will be part of the Senior Management Team responsible for plant activities in Canada, MexAm and the United States.
High-precision measurement with total stations and laser scanners is becoming an increasingly important part of plant projects for new construction, retrofit work and documenting the as-built situation. Leica Geosystems‘ hardware and software solutions are used by a large number of EPCs, owners and service providers to generate deliverables for plant-related projects safely and with increased operational efficiency. In his new role, Joel will lead the strategic growth of these and other solutions in the plant segment. Joel brings more than 25 years of experience in the plant design and engineering field. For the past eight years, he has worked within the Leica Geosystems Business Unit as Director of Business Development for Scanning Software. Joel’s previous engineering experience includes Bechtel, Jacobs and the company now known as URS. Joel also served as Product Manager for Plant Solutions at Bentley Systems and COO of Visi Image. Joel’s experience in nuclear power generation and the refining and chemical industries, combined with his extensive involvement in laser scanning and various 3D solutions, will help drive NAFTA Plant initiatives.
