Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY, with The View Restaurant, Both Receive AAA Northway Four Diamond Awards; Lodging Property Honored for 29th Straight Year
Lake Placid, NY (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Before a group of about 150 Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa employees on Thursday afternoon (June 27), owner Ed Weibrecht looked over the group in the Wikoff Room and asked, “What’s so different about the Mirror Lake Inn that separates us from the others?”
After a pause he continued. “You look around this room. That is the difference…..it’s you. You’re the ones who communicate and interface with the guests, and give them that good feeling.”
Shortly thereafter, James Phelps, President and CEO of AAA Northway stepped to the podium and presented the time-honored Lake Placid resort with its 29th consecutive AAA Four Diamond Award. The Inn’s accompanying The View Restaurant was similarly presented by Phelps with its sixth consecutive AAA Four Diamond designation.
Only one other property in the state (located in Manhattan) has maintained the AAA
Four Diamond Award as long as Lake Placid’s Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa.
“This award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of all of you,” said Phelps. “It’s an amazing accomplishment.”
How amazing? “Only five percent of AAA’s 30,000 rated lodges achieve AAA Four Diamond status, and there are 110 who have held the Four Diamonds for more than 25 years. In addition, just two percent of our 29,000 rated restaurants have the Four Diamonds.”
Mirror Lake Inn offers the only combination of Four Diamond lodging and dining in Lake Placid.
“Both (lodging and dining) are committed to providing experiences to all guests by consistently exceeding expectations,” added Phelps as he gazed outside the Wikoff Room toward adjacent Mirror Lake and the Adirondack Mountains. “You have a terrific place to come to work every day. It’s neat to spend half your day in this environment.”
Phelps was on point, based on the property’s stability and the longevity of many staff members. Owners Ed and Lisa Weibrecht live nearby and have overseen the Inn since 1976 with their daily, hands-on approach. Currently there are 11 members of the staff with over 20 years of experience at Mirror Lake Inn; there are 18 staff with over 10 years; and 17 with more than five years.
