New app lets you take Jamie, Nigella and Heston shopping
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 5 July 2013 -- A new iPhone application has been designed to help cooks never again be stuck for ideas on what to buy for their next meal. Cook the Books is a handy collection of shopping lists based on the most popular, classic and up-and-coming cookbooks.
The free app features a shopping list for every recipe in more than 50 UK cookbooks, from celebrity authors like Jamie, Heston and The Hairy Bikers and also on specialist subjects like 5:2 diets and family cookbooks. There are more than 5,000 shopping lists in total.
The app’s creator, Ian Malone of We Are Apps said, “So many times I’ve found myself in the supermarket wanting to cook a dish from a cookbook that is still on the shelf at home. I’m just not one of those people who remember to make a shopping list every morning.”
The app was inspired by a moment when Ian was in his local supermarket and wanted to use a recipe from a cookbook he’d been given by one of his clients. “I realised I had the app we’d built for the book on my iPhone, so I just needed to look at the list of ingredients. Then when I got home I used the actual cookbook to cook from.”
The app is also a great way to discover new cookbooks as you can use the app to also order any books you don’t have, via Amazon. “As well as the classics like Nigel Slater’s Kitchen Diaries we also wanted to help cooks discover other fantastic books, so we’ve featured books like Tonia George’s Things on Toast and the Camper Van Cookbook by Martin Dorey.”
The app is free to download and includes shopping lists for 5 books, including a Jamie and a 5:2 ideas diet book. Users can then download entire shopping lists for other cookbooks from as little as 69p.
The app can be downloaded from Apple's App Store here https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id655018728?mt=8.
