Initially launched on Memorial Day, the public was invited to nominate deserving military families by sending in their stories and photographs. The winning family will be determined by the voting public through July 15, 2013 at http://www.wsbtv.com/contests.
The Guevara-Rodriquez nomination letter explains the challenges this family has faced. For those who choose to serve to protect our country’s freedom, the battles fought close to home are sometimes tougher than those fought on foreign soil. Antonio Guevara-Rodriquez and his wife Jennifer are dedicated to caring for their two special children who have endured so much in their young lives. Antonio’s choice to serve in the military was based on the need to provide financial stability and healthcare for his family. Their youngest, son Henry, needed heart surgery when he was born. Their 6 year-old daughter, Galilea had to have brain surgery, and Jennifer was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia at almost the same time. Their story is one of faith and love in each other, despite the obstacles they’ve faced.
