Aegis Energy Services, Inc Begins Combined Heat and Power Project at Bunker Hill Community College
(PRWEB) July 05, 2013 -- Working with PPL Savage Alert, a division of PPL Energy Services, Aegis Energy Services, Inc, has launched a Combined Heat and Power, or CHP system at Bunker Hill Community College. The installation calls for a 75kW CHP module, which will produce both electricity and hot water for domestic hot water and space heating.
Bunker Hill Community College is a two-year college located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, which is a neighborhood of Boston. BHCC is the largest community college in Massachusetts with a secondary campus located in Chelsea and three satellite locations in East Boston, Malden, and Boston's South End.
Aegis Energy Services, Inc will be installing its Combined Heat and Power system in the boiler room of E Building on the Charlestown Campus. The system will provide heat loads for several buildings on campus. Aegis Combined Heat and Power systems deliver two forms of energy, heat and electricity, from a single fuel source (natural gas). The high-efficiency CHP systems significantly reduce energy costs and harmful emissions, as recognized by the EPA.
The contract for the project was awarded through PPL Savage Alert, a subsidiary of PPL Energy Services Group. PPL is an energy services company dedicated to providing energy cost reduction solutions to industrial plants, commercial properties, educational / institutional establishments, healthcare facilities, and municipal / state / federal buildings.
Based on a fuel savings analysis done by PPL Savage Alert, the installation of the Aegis Energy Services, Inc Combined Heat and Power system will provide a projected annual savings of $46,000 for the college.
