American Sociobiologist, Rebecca D. Costa, to Give Opening Remarks at G20 Conference and British Parliament, House of Lords
San Jose, California (PRWEB) July 08, 2013 -- American sociobiologist and author, Rebecca D. Costa, will give opening remarks at the III G20 Conference in London, July 17-19, 2013. The presentation will be followed by a meeting with leaders at the House of Lords, the upper house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Her topic will be “the effect exponential complexity has on global markets and predatory practices”.
When asked why complexity has become such a hot topic among government and business leaders, Costa remarked, “The more complex systems become – the higher the rates of failure. We are all trying to navigate a fast-changing, High Failure-Rate Environment (HFRE) where the number of wrong options outweigh the number of correct ones. History has shown that in such an environment, systemic failure is not only sudden but devastating.” According to Costa, “Nowhere has complexity wreaked greater havoc than in global financial markets, and nowhere are citizens and economies in greater jeopardy than in Europe and Africa.”
Costa’s 2010 groundbreaking book, The Watchman’s Rattle: A Radical New Theory of Collapse, was critically acclaimed in 25 countries, receiving the endorsements of Richard Branson, Dr. James Watson, E.O. Wilson and expert social scientists around the world. The book spawned a weekly news program called The Costa Report and an international speaking tour. Costa is presently preparing for the release of her second book.
Costa concluded, “It’s an honor to address the G20. And the historical significance of speaking in the House of Lords where Charles Darwin’s discoveries - the basis for my work - were once debated, is not lost on me. Perhaps we have come to a time when we are willing to consider the evolutionary reasons for our repetitive history of ascension and collapse.”

About Rebecca D. Costa http://www.rebeccacosta.com/
Rebecca Costa is a sociobiologist who offers an evolutionary explanation for current events and emerging trends. A new voice in the mold of Thomas Friedman and Malcolm Gladwell, Costa attributes modern consternation - from terrorism, crime on Wall Street, epidemic obesity and upheaval in the Middle East - to genetic imperatives. Retiring from a career in Silicon Valley, Costa spent six years researching and writing The Watchman’s Rattle. The success of the book in 25 countries led to a weekly syndicated radio program called The Costa Report. Costa is presently represented by the American Program Bureau and the Scott Meredith Literary Agency.
