JailBase Introduces Revolutionary Mobile App Enabling Facial Recognition to Find Mugshot Information
(PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- JailBase (http://www.jailbase.com) has developed a mobile app making database searches simpler and easier than ever. Now users armed only with a photo can use facial recognition to query JailBase’s extensive database of mugshots and arrest records and find a match (http://www.jailbase.com/mobile-app/). The mobile app allows the public to search JailBase's millions of arrest records for people who have been arrested in many counties in the United States. Users can be notified when someone they know is booked in jail again. Recent arrests can also be viewed and filtered by gender, race, location, and date.
The current release supports Android phones and tablets. An iPhone and iPad version is planned for release in the 4th quarter of 2013.
Facial recognition for mugshots is the newest service offered by JailBase. JailBase claims it is the first time this service has been offered to the public. Traditionally, facial recognition applications have been the domain of governments and large corporations. Advancements in the technology have lowered the cost and allowed JailBase to provide this technology to the public. Anyone can take a photo on their phone and immediately see possible mugshots matches.
"We're excited to be the first to offer this technology to the public. JailBase has always been about providing useful jail and inmate services to the public, and we feel that this mobile app is a great example of that," said JailBase Founder James Richmond.
JailBase's main business is it's online website of arrest information. The service collects thousands of public arrests records and mugshots a day from many counties in the country. Centered around open access and accountability, this arrest information (including the source) is made freely available to the public. This free service is primarily supported by online advertisements. JailBase also provides a free opt out service for the arrested individual.
