Foundation Financial Group Volunteers with Jacksonville’s Youth through Family Support Services
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- Foundation Financial Group assisted Family Support Services, a nonprofit that provides all child protection services previously performed by the Department of Children and Family Services in Jacksonville. Employees from Foundation Financial’s Jacksonville Regional Sales Center, located at 225 Water Street #2100, donated time and resources to help Family Support Services improve foster-family relationships.
“Family Support Services could not have asked for a better volunteer group to help with our caregiver training,” said Senior Director of Foster Care Services Roberta Zipperer. “FFG volunteers were fantastic, they were not afraid of getting involved and really interacting with the kids. We truly could not do the work that we do without the support and helping hands of people like those at Foundation Financial Group! We look forward to partnering again in the future.”
Foundation Financial Group employees gathered at Downtown Jacksonville’s First Baptist Church to help Family Support Services host a Caregiver Training Workshop for foster families. The workshop focused on helping foster parents learn new parenting techniques specific to the needs of foster children. FFG volunteers directed attendees, managed the daycare, and assisted with the dental check clinic while foster parents attended the training seminar. Foundation Financial employees were onsite to help set up and close down the event.
“My FFG coworkers and I had a blast helping out at the FSS Caregiver Training Workshop,” said Foundation Financial Group Event Coordinator Megan Nau. “One of our volunteers led a laser tag game for a group of 5-to-10-year-olds. They played for at least an hour straight! She took laser tag pretty seriously and showed no mercy to the kids; they absolutely adored her for it.”
“Volunteering with FSS gave us an opportunity to meet and have fun with some of Jacksonville’s amazing kids and teens,” continued Nau, whose grandparents fostered children. “By supporting child-centric organizations like Family Support Services, FFG is able to ensure happier, more stable childhoods for Jacksonville’s next generation. Everyone should volunteer to support foster families and become part of helping our city’s foster children grow into healthy, productive adults.”
