Yamaha Corporation of America Names Fisher Marketing Manager for Electronic Drums
Buena Park, Calif. (PRWEB) July 08, 2013 -- Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) today announced the appointment of Steven Fisher to the position of Marketing Manager for Electronic Drums, effective today. His primary responsibility will be to advance the market for the company’s award winning DTX drums and he will report to Athan Billias, Director of Marketing, Pro Audio & Combo Division at YCA.
Before joining Yamaha, Fisher spent more than 20 years with Roland Corporation U. S., where he held numerous positions in marketing and product development and served as a renowned clinician. Prior to this, he enjoyed an expansive career as a professional musician, performing and recording with Maynard Ferguson, Dizzy Gillespie, Blood, Sweat & Tears, T Lavitz, The Temptations, Natalie Cole and many TV and motion picture productions and emerged as a pioneer and well-known authority in the field of electronic percussion, from drum-machines to electronic drum sets. He studied jazz at University of North Texas, where he performed with the well-regarded One O’Clock Lab Band.
“Steve is recognized around the world as one of the top experts in electronic drums and he fits right in here at Yamaha, particularly given our company’s longstanding focus on music education,” said Billias. “We have experienced explosive growth in the electronic drum category and he will help us take the segment to new levels by improving the playing experience for our customers.”
Fisher will work closely with David Jewell, YCA’s acoustic drum marketing manager, said Billias, who added that his arrival helps Yamaha fully realize the One Yamaha program recently implemented for the Yamaha Drums team. In this shared resources initiative, Yamaha’s marketing, artist relations and product development experts work as a cohesive and integrated unit to increase the company’s impact in the marketplace and educational institutions.
“Steve adds many dimensions to our strength in electronic percussion and solidifies Yamaha’s role as a formidable force in the world of percussion,” said Jay Schreiber, general manager, Pro Audio & Combo Division, YCA.
