Casey Gollan reveals 10 Surprising Facebook Page Features for Businesses
(PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- In 10 Surprising Facebook Page Features for Businesses Gollan lists the tools most likely to be overlooked by businesses. The first of these – and one of the most valuable for companies – is the post promotion facility, says Gollan.
Due to Edgerank, many of a company’s fans simply won’t see their content or special offer post, and promoting it ensures the greatest reach possible. It’s possible to promote most posts on Facebook such as status updates, links, photos or albums, questions, or offers. Promoted posts work because they appear higher in newsfeeds, making it harder for people to miss. Posts can be promoted for as long as a company prefers although the default position is three days, and it’s worth bearing in mind the Maximum Budget is not the daily budget.
Another feature the Australian business coach points to is the one which allows companies to create up to five different levels of Admins to manage their Facebook page. This includes a manager, content creator, moderator, advertiser and insights analyst.
The ability to schedule posts on Facebook is a great time saving feature which is often overlooked by some businesses. It allows companies to schedule a post up to six months in advance or even to backdate it. This also means companies can create a whole week’s worth of posts at once and schedule them for delivery at the same time every day.
Another much underutilized feature on Facebook is the ability to edit the link title and description on posts, meaning companies can target them better to a Facebook audience.
Most page owners are aware they have metrics available to them in the Insights section of their page, says Gollan. However apart from ‘likes’ and ‘reach’, many of the metrics are confusing and may seem like they require an advanced degree to understand.
He added: “Knowing what these insights are, and why they’re important are crucial to improving your company’s Facebook page and utilizing it to its full potential. This includes seeing who has engaged with your posts, how often a certain post has gone viral and who has actually viewed the post within its first 28 days.”
Using Facebook as a page is helpful for B2B marketing, allowing companies to connect with other businesses. Companies can do this by accessing Edit Page and choosing the appropriate tab. Companies can also see data on other pages who have ‘liked’ their page, thereby allowing them to form potentially beneficial alliances.
Enhanced targeting allows companies to ensure their posts reach certain individuals based on demographics such as age, location, education, language etc. It’s the icon that resembles a target on the posting box and can only be accessed by first turning on Post Privacy Gating, advises the popular business coach.
Many business owners create business-related events via their personal page. The main reason is because when creating an event through a personal profile, an individual has the ability to send personal invitations to each and every one of their friends. The problem with this method however, is that unless they are friends with each and every person who ‘likes’ their business, they won’t be able to invite everyone. Therefore, it’s better to create and promote an event via the company page feature.
Companies may, from time to time, only want to share a post with certain ‘friends’ on Facebook. If so, it’s possible to hide that post from their timeline.
And finally, the last item Gollan’s post 10 Surprising Facebook Features for Businesses looks at optimizing posts for mobile use. The best way to do this is to keep the character count to 160 characters or less (anything longer than this will be cut off). It is also a good idea to use photos liberally. That’s because images take up more of a Smartphone or iPhone screen than on a computer, giving maximum effect.
